Master of Business Administrations (MBA)
Deakin University

Deakin University is the largest provider of professional and management education in Australia. We work in partnership with government, major corporations and professional associations - such as IBM, Coca-Cola Amatil, Coles Myer, General Motors - Holden, Ford, Qantas and CPA Australia - to deliver some of the most significant management programs in Australia and the region.

Because of Deakin's close working relationship with the business and professional community, Deakin was joint winner of the prestigious University of the Year by the Good University Guide for 1999/2000.

The Deakin MBA

Through the relevance and flexibility of the program, the Deakin MBA is one of the most highly regarded MBA programs on offer anywhere.

The Deakin MBA is a broadly based program concerned with aspects of an organisation's administration and the development of the creative, analytical and interpersonal capabilities which are crucial elements of business leadership.

The Deakin MBA is an accelerated MBA, with eight compulsory units and four electives.

Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma Programs

Deakin University is a founding member of Australian National Business Schools Ltd - a national grouping of a number of Australia's most significant universities.

As part of the consortium we offer a Graduate Certificate of Management and a Graduate Diploma of Business Administration. Students, who enter MBA and later decide to leave before finishing, may early exit from the program with either a Graduate Diploma of Business Administration (eight units) or a Grade Certificate of Management (four units). Students may later decide to return to their MBA with full credit for studies already completed within the last eight years. Current fees at the time of return would apply.

Flexibility

The flexibility of the Deakin MBA gives you the capacity to balance competing priorities and to contend with the unpredictable demands in your work and family life.

By varying the number of units taken in any semester, you can adapt your pace of study according to your particular circumstances.

Case Based Approach

The Deakin MBA seeks to integrate work and study through a case based approach and through applied projects that deal with real business management issues - wherever possible in the context of your own work environment.

On-Campus & Off-Campus Supported by Electronic Teaching and Conferencing

In 1981 Deakin University pioneered off-campus MBA teaching. The Deakin MBA is now available on-campus in Melbourne, Australia and off-campus. Both modes of study incorporate Deakin's "flexible learning" model, using electronic conferencing, group based project work and interaction, high quality course materials and intensive residential schools.

Students studying with IBS will also be offered face-to face local teaching support.

Specialist MBA Option

It is also possible to undertake a specialist sequence within the Deakin MBA in order to develop a specific technical or specialist expertise which may be relevant to your particular circumstance or interests. Students studying through IBS may elect to undertake the Marketing, Accounting or Finance specialisation.
