Diploma in Information Technology (DIT)
Objectives
The primary purpose of this course is to prepare students to sit the Australian Computer Society (ACS) Diploma in Information Technology. The ACS Diploma in Information Technology caters people seeking ACS Associate membership and/or articulation to Australian Degree programme. This course consists of eight units and provides students with the knowledge and skills required to become information technology professionals. Accordingly, the syllabus of the IBS Diploma in Information Technology is that of the ACS Diploma in Information Technology. Students enrolling in this course, in the first instance, will sit the IBS examination as a preparatory and be awarded:
A Diploma certificate on completion of all the eight units
In order to complete the ACS examination, students will appear for the ACS Diploma in Information Technology at the end of each unit examination of the IBS Diploma. ACS will issue a Diploma in Information Technology on completion of all the eight units of their examination. A person who has successfully completed the ACS Diploma in Information Technology may apply to become (or a student member be regarded as) a Provisional Diploma in Information Technology of the ACS. On completion of two years’ relevant work experience, an application may be made for reclassification to the grade of Associate.
Entry Requirements
Grade 12 or equivalent (e.g. a one or two-year TAFE Certificate in Computing); or,
IBS Certificate in Computing (CIC) graduate with Grade 10; or,
If an overseas citizen, have passed four GCE "O" level subjects and one GCE "A" level subject (or equivalent) and be able to demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in English; or,
Introduction to Computers & Windows
If a mature age person (aged over 22 years) who does not meet any of the requirements above, provide evidence of having completed at least three years’ relevant work experience in computing, as well as a capacity for advanced study
