1. Can I pay my course fees in installments?
Certificate courses
We provide three (3) flexi-pay options for payment of your course fees.
Undergraduate courses
For the undergraduate courses, only Diploma in Business (DIB) and Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) have two (2) flexi-pay options to pay your course fees. All the other courses require full payment of semester fees upfront.
2. Is there an entry test?
We do not have an entry test.
3. Is there a registration fee?
Yes, the registration fee for certificate course students is K150 and for the undergraduate students is K200. This fee is compulsory and is non-refundable. The registration fee covers access for the Internet, library and use of Research Centre facilities.
4. Is there an application fee?
We do not have any application fees.
5. Are there Grade Point Average (GPA) requirements for the courses at IBS?
With the exception of the Diploma in Accounting (DIA) course offered by IBS as a Study Centre of UPNG, IBS courses have no GPA requirements.
The UPNG Diploma in Accounting has a 2.5 GPA requirement for your Grade 12 Certificate. In addition, "Language & Literature" and "Mathematics A / B" require a B or above mark. If your marks marginally fall below the requirements, we can forward your application to UPNG for special consideration on your behalf.
6. Does IBS provide accommodation?
We provide limited accommodation, in which priority to given to undergraduate students who are studying full time. Guarantee of accommodation is awarded if course fees, textbooks and accommodation fees are paid in full for the for the year.
7. Do the course fees cover the textbooks?
Our certificate courses and the UPNG Diploma in Accounting (DIA) programme fees cover textbooks. Undergraduate programme fees only cover study guides and readings.Textbooks for these programmes are purchased directly from our publishers these savings are passed onto our students.
8. Does IBS organise job training/job recruitment for its graduates?
A range of services are available for our graduates from internships/ job training, recruitment services to a virtual office environment. These services are managed by our career development centre. For more information Click Here.
9. What if I fail a subject during my studies?
For the certificate students, there are supplementary exams called Repeaters and Absentees examinations. They are conducted at the end of every month between January and November. If you fail a subject, you will sit the Repeaters examination.
If you are absent for a scheduled examination, you will sit the Absentees examination.
Both examinations have a fee of K50 / subject which needs to be paid for before the examination request is processed.
10. What if I have a fail grade subject in my Grade 10 certificate?
We do not process applications where certificates have "Failed" marks. Intending applicants in this case are expected to upgrade their marks before applying. Proof of the mark upgrade will need to be submitted along with your application.
