Learning Resources
The Institute prepares students for several programmes of study ranging from certificate courses to a Master’s degree in Business Administration. This section comments on the learning resources of IBS with specific reference to study materials, teaching equipments and other facilities.
Study Materials
With respect to certificate courses in Accounting and Computing, several study texts have been prepared by faculty members themselves and printed with ISBN numbers. These are available for all subjects namely, Introduction to Computers & Windows, Fundamentals of Information Systems, Business Communication, Business Writing skills, Business Mathematics, Business Statistics, Word Processing - MS Word, Spreadsheet - MS Excel, Presentation - MS PowerPoint, Database Management - MS Access, Business Administration, Introduction to Accounting Package - MYOB, Budgeting and Decision Making, Business Practice, Advertising and Sales Promotion, Fundamentals of Marketing and Computer Applications in Business. Study texts have been revised and upgraded regularly to include the latest developments.

With respect to Diploma and degree courses which are conducted in affiliation with Australian Computer Society, University of Papua New Guinea, Deakin and Southern Cross Universities of Australia, IBS is provided with quality study guides for every unit taught and these are provided free of charge to students. In addition, for each subject a standard textbook is prescribed which has to be purchased by students. The process of procuring books is facilitated by IBS placing a bulk order for books with the publishers prior to the commencement of the semester and these are given to students on payment. Classroom teaching is closely guided by the contents of the study guide and the prescribed text.
General Library
The IBS library has over 3500 books in stock and a collection of journals and business magazines. Business texts are both costly and difficult to source locally.

Also, IBS regularly purchases the publications of the Institute of National Affairs, National Research Institute and the Bank of PNG. The Institute also gets publications from the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, European Union and the Asian Development Bank, which are invaluable for students doing business study courses.

Monthly journals of professional institutions are also available for reference by the students. Daily leading Newspapers are available at the Library for student reference. IBS regularly purchases books from various publications from different countries to have a good collection in the Library. The academic staffs have a regular access to the library materials and suggest to the student for reference.

The Library has a small Computer Lab inside to provide the Internet access to the students at nominal fee. The usages of computers are free for typing and learning purposes. The library computers are equipped with latest software’s including Encarta Encyclopedia for student reference / research purposes.
