School of Accounting & Finance  
Main
The School of Accounting offers course at certificate and undergraduate level. It offers courses suited for students willing to pursue future job prospects in the field of accounting or finance. Students can choose from short 6 month courses to 3 three courses. Working students can choose to study as part-time students. The school reviews its content every year to ensure that students are kept up to date with real business situations and practices. Depending on the course most student are able to secure jobs within 4 months of completion, business houses tend to give preference to IBS graduates. Upon completion of the course all the students are taken through a short exit programme to prepare them practically for the work challenges that may lie ahead, this course aims to create that logical link between the theory they have learnt and how they can apply it practically in the organisations they go to.

Mr. R. Parthiban
B.Com., M.Com., M.Phil. PGDCA
Acting Head of School (H.O.S) - Accounting
Mr. Parthiban earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree with first class in 2000, Master of Commerce degree with distinction in 2002 and the Master of philosophy with first class in 2003-2004 from PSG College of Arts and Science, which is affiliated with Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, India. He earned his Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA) in 2003 from Annamalai University, India.

He served as a lecturer in Commerce at S.N.R Sons College, Coimbatore, India before joining IBS. His research work in M.Phil degree course was in the area of Marketing Mix Strategies adopted by Indian BPO's.

He also presented papers on various topics and participated in many seminars and he has also acted as a resource person for few Indian Universities.

The teaching competencies of Mr. Parthiban are in the areas of Accounting, Marketing, Management and Computing. He is currently teaching Systems Analysis and Managing organisations in a Global Context at IBS.

Ms. J.Tamilarasi

Lecturer

Ms. Tamilarasi earned her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Avanishi Lingam University, India in the year 1999. Master of Commerce Obtained from Annamali University in the year 2004. In 2005 she obtain her Master Philosophy ( M.Phil) from Algappa University, India. She conducted research and submitted a paper on "Online Trading of Shares" for the award of Master of Philosophy in Commerce.

She has served as lecturer in Commerce at Lakshmi Narayana Vishalakshi College and Bishop Ambrose college, Bharathiar University , Coimbatore, India for the period of 3 and half years.


Ms. Kila Irau Gulu
B.Sc, PGDE, M.Ed - UK.
Lecturer

Ms. Kila Irau earned her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc in Maths) degree in Maths from the University of PNG, in the year 1993. Post Graduate Diploma in Education at University of Goroka in the year 2001. She obtain her Master in Education in Math Education at University of Bristol Graduate School of Education, England, UK in the year 2006.

She has worked with Bank of PNG from 1987 to 1989 as Part Time worker. In 1993 served as part time tutor in Basic Math, Basic Statistics & Business Statistics. In 1995, joined Dept of Education and taught at various schools such as Kwikila High School, Sogeri High School etc.


Mr. Aaron Hihina
B.Sc.
Assistant Lecturer

Aaron obtained his Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Mathematics and Computing from the University of Papua New Guinea in March 2003.

He has taught Mathematics at Don Bosco Technical College for Grade 11 and 12 students since his graduation. He joined IBS as an Assistant Lecturer in May 2004 and teaches Business Mathematics, Business Statistics and Computer Applications for our Certificate students.


Mr. Richard Otmar Andia
B.Com.
Assistant Lecturer
Mr. Richard obtained his Diploma in Commerce (Accounting) and Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree from the University of Papua New Guinea 2002 and 2005 respectively. Richard is the Member of Certified Practicing Accountants of PNG (CPAPNG).

He served as a Senior Finance Officer in the BSP (Bank of South Pacific) until 2008. His responsibilities at BSP include preparing Financial and Management Accounts Report for 3 offshore branches, 36 local Branches & 7 Head Office Business Units and ensure completion of Volumes, Operations and Capital Expenditure Budget forecasting on an annual basis and quarterly review thereon. Ongoing scrutiny and measurement of performance against deposit, lending, Operations and Capital Expenditure budgets.

He attended various self development and training programmes conducted by reputed National and International Business Schools.

Mr. Richard joined IBS as an Assistant Lecturer in January 2009.
